അമേരിക്കക്കാരനായ ഒരു ഡോക്ടറും പ്രകൃതിശാസ്ത്രകാരനുമായിരുന്നു തോമസ് ഹോർസ്ഫീൽഡ് (Thomas Horsfield M.D.) (മെയ് 12, 1773 – ജൂലൈ 24, 1859). വളരെ വ്യാപകമായി ഇന്തോനേഷ്യയിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്ത അദ്ദേഹം ആ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ധാരാളം മൃഗങ്ങളെയും സസ്യങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റിയും വിവരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പിന്നീടദ്ദേഹം ഈസ്റ്റ് ഇന്ത്യ കമ്പനിയുടെ ലണ്ടനിലെ മ്യൂസിയത്തിൽ ക്യുറേറ്റർ ആയി ജോലി ചെയ്തു.[1][2]

- Common darkie, Paragerydus horsfieldii, a small butterfly found in India.
- Arhopala horsfieldi a butterfly of Lycaenidae family. It is found in Asia.
